Methu Blasts Ruto and Murkomen After Violent Ol-Kalou By-Election
OL-KALOU — Nyandarua Senator John Methu has launched a fresh, scathing attack against President William Ruto, demanding that the Head of State focus on governing the country rather than playing premature 2027 politics.
Speaking following a dramatic by-election in Ol-Kalou, Methu expressed deep outrage over recent violence in the constituency that tragically claimed two lives.
The killings, allegedly carried out by political goons, occurred during the heated by-election campaign period.
Senator Methu directly held President Ruto accountable as the ultimate appointing authority, taking aim at Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen.
Methu criticized Murkomen for publicly describing the Ol-Kalou poll as “peaceful” while local families were preparing to lay their loved ones to rest.

“It is insensitive to tell the people of Nyandarua that the election was peaceful when two of our people lost their lives to state-linked goons,” Methu remarked. “Ruto appointed Murkomen to manage the nation’s security docket, yet he comes here to mock our grief.”
This is not the first time the vocal senator has confronted the administration. Months earlier, during the funeral service of the former Ol-Kalou Member of Parliament, Methu publicly called out President Ruto for over-promising development projects to the Mt. Kenya region while failing to deliver on key promises.
Reflecting on the outcome of the by-election, Methu issued a stern warning ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He noted that the political dynamics in Mt. Kenya have shifted permanently, asserting that voters in the region will no longer be misled by empty government rhetoric or intimidation.
Methu urged President Ruto to abandon early campaign strategies and address pressing economic concerns before the ballot box forces a reality check in 2027.
