Babu Owino Issues Stern Warning to Broad-Based Government Ahead of Jacaranda Rally
NAIROBI, Kenya — Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has issued a stern warning to the Broad-based government coalition, cautioning against any political violence during their planned rally at Jacaranda Grounds.
Speaking on Friday, October 30, during the official launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement’s headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, the lawmaker accused partner parties ODM and UDA of holding a history of chaotic gatherings. He emphasized that he would not tolerate disruptions or violence that could put his constituents at risk.
“Tomorrow, there is a rally at Jacaranda Ground organised by the ‘blood-based government’. As the area MP, I would like to say this: because he respects human life, come and have a peaceful rally. We do not want to bury any child in Embakasi East,” Owino stated. “Do your rally and go! I will come to clean up after you have left. We are younger than you, but are wiser.”
At the event, Owino reaffirmed his full backing for party leader and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s 2027 presidential bid. He called on opposition leaders to unite and field a single candidate to challenge President William Ruto.
Joining the call, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) Leader Rigathi Gachagua urged supporters, particularly from the Western region, to stand firmly behind Sifuna.
Gachagua criticized COTU-K Secretary General Francis Atwoli over a planned meeting at Bukhungu Stadium on December 20 aimed at rallying the Western region for President Ruto’s re-election, advising residents to resist the push.
Additionally, Gachagua alleged that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi sold the Amani National Congress (ANC) to President Ruto for Ksh20 million in a deal he personally brokered.
