Suba South MP Caroli Omondi Signals Alliances as Linda Mwananchi Relaunches as Political Party
NAIROBI, Kenya — The Linda Mwananchi Movement has officially completed its transition into a full-fledged political outfit, declaring its readiness to enter coalition negotiations with United Opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during the official launch of the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party (LMM) headquarters in Lavington, Nairobi, Secretary-General and Suba South MP Caroli Omondi announced that the outfit had established a formal political structure. He confirmed Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna as the party leader, positioning the party as a serious contender in Kenya’s political landscape.
“Today marks the end of the transformation of our movement into a political party. We are no longer a movement. We have become a political party: The Linda Mwananchi Movement Party,” Omondi declared.
In a direct appeal to key opposition figures, including Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Omondi signaled LMM’s willingness to discuss alliances.
“Rigathi Gachagua, Kalonzo Musyoka, we are now ready to do business. We have a name, an identity, a leader, and a home,” Omondi said.
Outlining the party’s ideology, Omondi described LMM as a social market democracy built on democratic governance, social justice, and free enterprise. He emphasized creating an inclusive nation where economic growth serves the majority rather than a privileged few.
To promote economic inclusion, Omondi promised policies aimed at democratizing access to wealth creation. He highlighted plans to enable everyday citizens to invest directly in Treasury Bills, government securities, and the Nairobi Securities Exchange using mobile phones.
The party is set to release its detailed policy manifesto soon and has invited supporters and prospective candidates to join its ranks ahead of 2027.
