Sifuna Announces Meru Rally Following Deadly Homa Bay Clash
NAIROBI, Kenya — Former Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General and current Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has announced the next stop for his “Linda Mwananchi” tour, scheduling a major rally in Meru County just days after a violent clash marred their political gathering in Homa Bay.
The decision comes on the heels of chaotic scenes in Homa Bay County, where Sifuna’s delegation encountered violent resistance. According to police reports, organized goons armed with crude weapons and stones ambushed the Linda Mwananchi brigade.
The violence escalated rapidly, leaving one police officer dead and several others nursing serious injuries after security personnel struggled to restore order.
Undeterred by the violent setback, Sifuna reaffirmed his commitment to the nationwide political drive aimed at addressing governance and economic challenges faced by ordinary citizens.

Speaking to supporters, Sifuna stated that the tour would not be intimidated or derailed by politically orchestrated chaos.
The upcoming Meru edition of the Linda Mwananchi rally is expected to draw significant political attention.
Sifuna will be hosted by former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza, who was impeached from office a few months ago after a protracted battle with the local county assembly.
Mwangaza’s political backing in Mount Kenya East is set to give the rally substantial weight as she joins forces with Sifuna’s opposition movement.
Local authorities in Meru are reportedly bolstering security arrangements ahead of the scheduled rally to prevent a repeat of the security lapses seen in Nyanza.
Meanwhile, political observers are closely monitoring the political alliance between Sifuna and the ousted former governor, which could reshape political dynamics in the region.
