Homa Bay County Governor Her Excellency Gladys Wanga has publicly cleared her name following the violent attacks targeting the Linda Mwananchi movement in her county.
The incident, which saw the Linda Mwananchi convoy ambushed, supporters maimed, and several vehicles reduced to ashes while traveling from Sindo toward Homa Bay Town, sparked intense outrage online.
Members of the public, alongside political figures, demanded accountability and called on authorities to question Governor Wanga and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma.

Speaking during a recent podcast interview, Wanga strongly distanced herself from the chaos, maintaining that she is a peace-loving leader committed to the safety of Homa Bay residents.
She deflected the blame directly toward Siaya Governor James Orengo, claiming that Orengo brought armed youths into Homa Bay County during the tour. According to Wanga, this presence provoked local residents, leading to the violent clashes.
“I am a peaceful person and would never orchestrate violence against anyone,” Wanga stated, addressing the allegations leveled against her.
The incident has triggered a sharp political fallout in the region. Linda Mwananchi leaders—including Governor Orengo, former LSK President Faith Odhiambo, and political activist Pauline Njoroge—held a press conference condemning the attacks.
Denying Wanga’s claims, the group accused state security agencies and local county leadership of sponsoring goons to disrupt their peaceful rallies.
They have formally demanded the arrest and prosecution of Wanga and Kaluma over alleged incitement, threatening to conduct citizen arrests if state agencies fail to act.
With tension remaining high, oversight bodies and police leadership face mounting pressure to investigate the violence and bring all perpetrators to book.
