Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has launched a blistering verbal attack against internal dissidents within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), accusing rebel elements of betraying the party in favor of external political forces.
Addressing the media amid escalating friction inside the opposition outfit, the outspoken legislator expressed utter relief over the departure of figures associated with rival political alliances, asserting that membership within the party remains incompatible with external allegiance.
Kaluma warned that party members cannot simultaneously retain allegiance to ODM while operating as proxies for former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
He claimed that certain leaders within the party structure are secretly aligning with the duo to destabilize the current political layout and undermine internal party cohesion. The lawmaker insisted that dual loyalty undermines the movement’s foundational principles and dilutes its strategic positioning ahead of coming electoral contests.
The lawmaker directed sharp criticism at the Linda Mwananchi political initiative, framing it as a sponsored vehicle designed to siphon support from traditional strongholds. Kaluma argued that those associating with the group should formally exit the party and seek alternative political platforms rather than operating as internal destabilizers.
Reaffirming his unwavering support for the official party line and the broad-based governance framework, Kaluma maintained that ODM remains firmly committed to constructive national engagement rather than factional maneuvers driven by external patrons.
The remarks highlight deepening ideological fractures and factional warfare within the country’s main opposition party.
