Gachagua Breaks Down in Public at Ol-Kalou Burial, Accuses Administration of Poll Violence
OL-KALOU, KENYA — Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua left members of the public and political observers startled on Thursday after breaking into tears during a joint send-off for two young men killed during the recent Ol-Kalou parliamentary by-election.

He alleged that state-backed goons were unleashed on the people of Ol-Kalou to intimidate voters, resulting in the fatal shooting and assault of two young residents.
“These young men paid the ultimate price simply for exercising their democratic right,” Gachagua stated, his voice cracking as he held the hands of the bereaved kin.
Gachagua warned that the Mt. Kenya region would not forget the tragic incidents, framing the tragedy as a turning point in the region’s political relationship with the current government.
He asserted that voters in the region would deliver their ultimate verdict at the ballot box in the 2027 General Election.
