A fresh political storm is brewing after Junet Mohammed made a startling claim about Babu Owino, alleging that the Embakasi East MP called him the previous day in an emotional state and spoke about his political future.

According to Junet, he used the conversation to urge Babu to consider joining the Orange Democratic Movement and pursue his ambition of becoming Nairobi governor.
“Babu Owino called me yesterday crying like a baby,” Junet alleged, adding that he told the legislator to come to ODM and seek the governor’s seat.
The remarks have immediately drawn attention because Babu has recently been vocal about his political ambitions and his support for Senator Edwin Sifuna in the emerging opposition politics ahead of the 2027 elections.
Babu has also publicly stated that he will attend some Linda Mwanaichi rallies but not all of them, while asking Nairobi residents to support his bid to become the next governor of Nairobi.
Junet’s latest comments therefore raise fresh questions about where Babu’s political journey could be heading and whether competing interests within the opposition camp could eventually bring him closer to ODM.
However, Junet’s account remains an allegation attributed to him, and no independent evidence has been presented in the statement to establish that Babu made the call or was crying during the conversation.
