A sharp political rift has erupted within the opposition camp after Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni launched a scathing attack on Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua.
Addressing supporters in Ndaragwa Constituency, Nyandarua County, Kioni sharply criticized Gachagua’s political conduct, accusing him of sowing discord, disrespecting key coalition allies, and undermining the broader unity needed to mount an effective political challenge.
Kioni’s remarks came in direct response to accusations leveled against him and the Jubilee Party regarding coalition management and allegations of state-sponsored infiltration.
Expressing anger over being labeled a mole within the alliance, Kioni pointedly questioned Gachagua’s moral authority, highlighting that Gachagua remains on the ruling party’s payroll while accusing long-standing opposition figures of betrayal.
The Jubilee leader warned that Gachagua’s combative approach and persistent insults toward fellow principals—including former leaders and key presidential contenders within the United Opposition—threaten to completely shatter the coalition’s solidarity.
According to Kioni, such unchecked internal hostility and disrespect only serve to confuse opposition supporters and weaken their collective platform, ultimately paving a clear path toward another election loss.
Kioni further noted that political transformation cannot be achieved through constant insults, declaring that Jubilee will no longer tolerate continuous attacks on its leadership and candidates.
Reaffirming Jubilee’s resolve to chart its own course if internal hostility persists, Kioni signaled that the party is fully prepared to conduct independent grassroots campaigns.
The escalating feud underscores deepening ideological and personal fractures within the opposition landscape as various factions struggle to build a cohesive front.
