Video: Frail Kizza Besigye Faints in Court Over Alleged Plot to Kill Museveni
Dramatic Collapse Inside Kampala Courtroom
Veteran Ugandan opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye has fainted inside a Kampala courtroom. The dramatic collapse happened while state prosecutors read treason charges against him.
Officials claim Besigye plotted to overthrow President Yoweri Museveni by force. The veteran politician appeared visibly frail and shaken before losing consciousness in the dock.
Abducted in Nairobi During Book Launch Visit
Besigye was abducted in Nairobi on November 16, 2024. He had traveled to Kenya to attend Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua’s book launch.

He went missing from an apartment building in the capital city. Four days later, he reappeared in a military court in Kampala. Human rights groups condemned the cross-border abduction as illegal.
Growing Public Concern Over Health and Trial

Besigye has remained in state custody despite a Supreme Court ruling banning civilian military trials. His legal team, led by Erias Lukwago, has repeatedly demanded his unconditional release.
“His health is rapidly deteriorating in prison,” Lukwago told reporters outside the courthouse.
Supporters across East Africa now fear for his safety as political tensions rise.
Many Ugandans are demanding immediate medical care and his freedom on compassionate grounds.
