Political friction has intensified in Garissa County following explosive allegations leveled by Rigathi Gachagua’s Democratic Cultural Progress (DCP) party against Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale.
The party accuses the Cabinet Secretary of funding local youth to intimidate and prevent Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka from accessing the region.
According to statements issued by the party, Cabinet Secretary Duale allegedly mobilized young individuals throughout the day and into late evening hours, distributing branded T-shirts to project resistance against the visiting delegation.
The DCP leadership firmly dismissed the threats, declaring that no individual holds the authority to restrict any Kenyan leader from traveling or engaging with citizens anywhere across the republic.
Asserting that their delegation had already arrived on the ground in Garissa, party representatives reaffirmed that planned political activities would move forward without interruption.
DCP officials urged the youth deployed by political opponents to collect whatever financial compensation was offered without succumbing to manipulation or engaging in acts of violence.
The party emphasized that Garissa County remains a shared space for all Kenyans rather than the political territory of a single individual, promising that their “Komboa Kenya” policy message would reach local residents regardless of political friction.
The opposition alliance further characterized Kalonzo Musyoka as a central figure capable of uniting both northern and southern regional constituencies.
Framing the tour as a mission to offer alternative leadership and promote national unity, the group vowed to march past any political roadblocks staged against them.
The confrontation underscores mounting political competition in the region as national figures attempt to solidify grassroots support ahead of future political contests.
Despite the hostility, opposition figures reaffirmed their commitment to holding planned rallies and community engagements across Garissa town.
