But after images and reports from his Kenol rally circulated, Barasa appeared unimpressed by the size of the crowd.
In a mocking message directed at Nyoro, the Kimilili lawmaker suggested that the turnout was surprisingly small compared with the number of people who normally pass through the busy Kenol area.
“Ndindi Nyoro, the crowd I saw you with at Kenol was quite small,” Barasa stated, adding that thousands of people are usually present at Kenol going about their business.
The most striking part of the message was Barasa’s decision to frame his criticism as though he were a teacher addressing a student.
“As your teacher, I expect you to take this seriously,” he said, before telling Nyoro to report to his office on Monday accompanied by both parents or guardians.
Barasa concluded by describing the situation as unacceptable and unfathomable, turning what could have been an ordinary political rally into another moment of online political drama.
The exchange has added fresh intrigue to the growing debate over political influence in the Mount Kenya region, where competing leaders are increasingly testing their support ahead of 2027.
