Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is a marked man. Since his remarks on June 26, 2025 post youths protests, things have not been the same for him.
While in Nairobi Central business district, Murkomen ordered Police officers to shoot and kill anyone approaching Police station or government buildings. His remarks left many Kenyans fuming, calling for his removal from office immediately for allegedly not respecting human life.

In his defence, he claimed that his speech was taken out of context and was only asking Police officers to defend themselves when it comes to them being attacked or sensing danger. He continued by claiming that he is one of few individuals who respects the law and will do everything to defend the constitution of the republic of Kenya.

Well, it seems like his defence did not satisfy Kenyans who have taken the matter to the courts. The petition has been filled at the high court demanding his removal from the office.
According to the information obtained by us, Katiba institute of Kenya has asked the court to impeach Murkomen by ruling he is not fit to hold a public office. They cited the order he gave to police officers to shoot Kenyans and kill them if they approached police stations. They are claiming he overstepped his mandate as a public officer and for that reason, he should not be left to hold that office at all.
” We are petitioning this court to oust Kipchumba Murkomen for the following reason; giving out a shoot to kill order to officers which is a violation of the Kenyan constitution.” Report from Katiba institute.
