Mithika Linturi Speaks on Claims of Dumping Gachagua for Ruto Ahead of 2027 Polls
Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has dismissed claims that he is planning to abandon former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s opposition camp and return to President William Ruto’s side ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The allegations suggested that Linturi was holding discussions with Ruto’s administration about a possible return to government before the next polls.
However, Linturi has termed the reports misleading, reaffirming his commitment to the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), associated with Gachagua.
In a statement shared on his official social media platforms, the former CS criticised those spreading the claims and urged Kenyans to remain vigilant against political misinformation.

“Alinur, this country doesn’t have a shortage of daydreamers. Continue waiting. Our resolve to liberate this country is on autopilot. Nothing can change our cause. Not even your propaganda,” Linturi stated.
His remarks were directed at claims circulating online that he was preparing to leave the opposition for a political reunion with the president.
Linturi’s response signals his intention to remain aligned with Gachagua’s camp amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections.
The former CS previously served in Ruto’s Cabinet as Agriculture Cabinet Secretary before leaving the government. His latest statement places him firmly against reports suggesting an imminent political shift.
As the country moves closer to the next general election, political affiliations and alliances are expected to remain a subject of public debate. For now, Linturi has dismissed the reports and maintained his position within the opposition camp.
Any subsequent change in his political allegiance would require confirmation from the former Cabinet secretary himself.
