Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has advised the fractured opposition leadership to shift its focus from political rallies toward delivering tangible economic results for city residents.
Addressing the political discourse surrounding urban development, Passaris urged political players to recognize that while political gatherings generate public attention, real transformation relies on concrete policy outcomes.
She pointed to ongoing national government investments in capital projects as the primary benchmark for measuring successful leadership in the city.
Highlighting current state initiatives, Passaris emphasized that substantial public funds are being directed into Nairobi’s modernization.
She noted that government programs covering affordable housing, road expansion, and social infrastructure represent the core issues that should dominate local political discussions.
According to the lawmaker, public debate ought to center on project completion, infrastructure quality, and the direct social impact on daily lives.
Reaffirming her political identity, Passaris clarified that she remains a committed member of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), maintaining that Nairobi continues to serve as a key base for the party.
However, she emphasized that ODM’s participation in the broad-based governance framework alongside the national executive is designed to ensure development benefits reach local constituencies.
