People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua has praised the work of former Chief Justice David Maraga and colleagues in the People’s Coalition on Electoral Reforms.
Her brief comment, “Great work,” came in response to Maraga’s statement reaffirming that the 2027 general election, especially the presidential contest, must be conducted strictly according to the Constitution.
The coalition, with Maraga as co-convenor, gathered leaders including Ekuru Aukot, Caleb Amisi, Justin Muturi and others to demand concrete changes.
Central among them is the insistence that results declared at polling stations and constituencies remain final, with no national tallying centre allowed to alter or re-verify those figures.
The group also pressed for an independent audit of the voter register to remove irregularities before the next polls.
Karua’s public endorsement adds political weight to the reform agenda. By aligning herself with the coalition’s non-negotiable stance, she has underscored the growing consensus among several opposition-leaning figures that electoral integrity cannot be compromised.
The move comes as preparations for 2027 intensify and questions about technology, transparency and legal compliance continue to surface. The endorsement is likely to keep the pressure on institutions tasked with managing the vote.
In a climate where trust in the process remains fragile, the combined voices of Maraga, Karua and their colleagues have ensured that constitutional fidelity stays at the centre of the national conversation.
