Consolidating Mt. Kenya Support
Speaking during the morning event, Gachagua revealed that Hon. Kago Wa Lydia expressed his commitment to contest the Githunguri parliamentary seat on a DCP ticket, citing direct instructions from his constituents.
Gachagua assured the incoming leaders of transparent internal democratic processes:
- Democratic Nominations: A commitment to free and fair nominations for all prospective aspirants across the country.
- Grassroots Mobilization: A call to new entrants to lead robust membership recruitment campaigns in their respective regions.
Welcoming Dr. Thuo Mathenge, Gachagua framed the party’s green brand identity—carrying slogans such as “The Future is Green” and “Green is Wealth”—as a symbol of economic rejuvenation and national political transformation.
The strategic defections underscore Gachagua’s hands-on approach to consolidating regional support ahead of upcoming electoral contests, signaling a major realignment within the Mt. Kenya political landscape.
