The final day of campaigns ahead of the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election took an emotional and spiritual turn after Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leaders, led by Nyandarua Senator John Methu and the party’s candidate Sammy Kamau Waweru, paused their campaign activities to seek divine guidance through a prayer led by Pastor Dorcas Rigathi over a phone call.
The touching moment unfolded as the DCP campaign team gathered before concluding their final appeal to voters.
The leaders, supporters and campaign officials bowed their heads and went down on their knees while Pastor Dorcas offered prayers, asking for peace, wisdom, protection and God’s guidance as residents prepare to cast their votes.
The prayer session drew the attention of supporters, many of whom joined in silently, creating a solemn atmosphere that contrasted with the heated political campaigns witnessed over the past weeks.
Speaking after the prayer, Senator John Methu said the party believes leadership should be founded on integrity, humility and faith.
He noted that seeking God’s guidance before the election reflected the values the party hopes to uphold if entrusted with leadership.
DCP candidate Sammy Kamau Waweru thanked supporters for standing with him throughout the campaign period, saying he had traversed every corner of the constituency listening to residents’ concerns.
He pledged to champion development, accountability and better public services if elected as the next Member of Parliament for Ol Kalou.
