Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has appealed to the people of Ol Kalou Constituency to uphold peace and unity as they prepare to elect their next Member of Parliament, urging all political leaders and supporters to respect the democratic process and allow voters to make their choice freely.
Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated by-election, Waiguru emphasized that democracy can only flourish in an environment where peace, tolerance and respect for the rule of law are upheld. She’s called on candidates, political parties and their supporters to avoid acts of intimidation, violence or any form of disruption that could undermine the credibility of the election.
The governor said every eligible voter deserves the opportunity to cast their ballot without fear or interference, adding that peaceful elections are essential in strengthening Kenya’s democratic institutions.
“We must demonstrate that democracy thrives where peace prevails. Every citizen should be free to choose their preferred leader without intimidation or disruption,” Waiguru said.
At the same time, the Kirinyaga governor expressed confidence in the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate, Hon. Samuel Muchina Nyaga, describing him as a capable leader with the vision and commitment to transform Ol Kalou through close collaboration with the National Government.
According to Waiguru, electing leaders who maintain strong working relationships with the national administration is crucial in accelerating development projects and ensuring government resources reach the grassroots.
