Kilifi Governor Gideon Mung’aro has officially assented to the Kilifi County Budget for the 2026/2027 Financial Year, marking a significant milestone in the county’s efforts to accelerate development and improve service delivery.
The signing of the budget, which took place on Monday morning, clears the way for the implementation of key programmes and projects aimed at transforming livelihoods, strengthening public services and stimulating economic growth across Kilifi County.
Speaking after assenting to the budget, Governor Mung’aro described the occasion as a critical step in fulfilling his administration’s commitment to delivering tangible development to residents.
He said the approved budget provides the financial framework required to implement the county’s priorities over the coming financial year.
“This morning, I officially assented to the Kilifi County Budget for the 2026/2027 Financial Year, setting the stage for continued development and improved service delivery across our county,” the governor said.
The budget is expected to prioritize investments in healthcare, education, agriculture, water, infrastructure, youth empowerment and social welfare programmes.

County officials say these sectors remain central to the administration’s agenda of improving the quality of life for residents while creating more opportunities for economic empowerment.
Infrastructure development is also expected to receive significant funding, with plans to improve road networks, expand access to clean water and enhance public facilities in both urban centres and rural areas.
The county government believes these investments will stimulate business activity, improve mobility and attract new investment into Kilifi.
Healthcare remains another key focus area, with resources expected to support the upgrading of health facilities, procurement of essential medical supplies and recruitment of additional health workers.
The county also intends to strengthen maternal and child healthcare services while improving access to affordable treatment.
Governor Mung’aro further emphasized the importance of prudent financial management and accountability during the implementation of the budget.
He called on county departments to ensure every allocated shilling delivers value for money and directly benefits the people of Kilifi.
He also acknowledged the role played by the Kilifi County Assembly in scrutinizing and approving the budget, describing the collaboration between the Executive and the Assembly as vital in ensuring effective governance and development planning.
Residents and stakeholders have expressed optimism that the new financial plan will accelerate the implementation of ongoing development projects while introducing new initiatives aimed at creating jobs, boosting local businesses and improving essential public services.
With the budget now formally signed into law, county departments are expected to begin rolling out programmes and projects outlined in the 2026/2027 financial plan, as the Mung’aro administration seeks to deliver on its promise of inclusive growth, efficient service delivery and sustainable development for the people of Kilifi County.
