Video: How Governor Natembeya Rescued Senator Sifuna from Ruto’s Political Trap

Trans Nzoia County Governor George Natembeya has taken center stage in Kenya’s political discourse following revelations about his decisive role in saving Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from what leaders describe as imminent “political suicide.”

Speaking during a local radio broadcast, Bumula Member of Parliament Jack Wamboka disclosed the high-stakes political maneuvering that transpired when Sifuna attempted to register a new political party.

According to Wamboka, government operatives aligned with President William Ruto had effectively blocked the Registrar of Political Parties from clearing Sifuna’s registration documents.

While other political figures were granted party approvals without issue, Sifuna found himself politically stranded and systematically frustrated by state apparatuses.

Recognizing the state’s diversionary tactics, Governor Natembeya—a frequent political ally seen alongside Sifuna across various regional rallies, including the recent Linda Mwananchi initiatives—executed a strategic countermove.

Natembeya went on air via a prominent local radio station and publicly announced that Sifuna was joining forces with a party associated with the late politician Cyrus Jirongo.

The public announcement immediately drew the full attention and resources of state operatives and UDA strategists, who redirected their efforts toward blocking the reported Jirongo-affiliated deal.

Under the cover of this distraction, Sifuna quietly moved to acquire registration for The Equitable Party. By the time government operatives realized the initial announcement was a tactical ruse, Sifuna’s party registration had been fully secured, leaving UDA strategists caught off guard and outmaneuvered.

Wamboka emphasized that Natembeya’s swift tactical intervention prevented Sifuna from being politically sidelined ahead of upcoming election cycles, cementing the Trans Nzoia governor’s reputation as a key power broker in western region politics.
