A fresh political warning has put Edwin Sifuna’s rising national profile under an uncomfortable spotlight.

Ngunyi described the presidential race as a marathon rather than a fragmented contest and challenged Sifuna to consider who may be benefiting from his political path.
“Let’s see how LONG Sifuna will last,” Ngunyi stated in his late-night message.
He went further by alleging that Sifuna could be serving the interests of either President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, or both.
Ngunyi used the controversial historical expression “useful idiot” to describe what he portrayed as a politician being used by others without recognising it.
Those are Ngunyi’s allegations, not established facts.
The remarks come at a politically sensitive moment for Sifuna.
The Nairobi senator has emerged as one of the prominent figures around the Linda Mwananchi movement, while opposition leaders have been holding consultations over the possibility of presenting a united presidential candidate in 2027.
At the same time, Sifuna has increasingly found himself in direct political exchanges with Ruto. The President recently responded publicly to Sifuna’s criticism of his affordable housing programme, demonstrating how closely the two politicians are now engaging politically.
Questions about Sifuna’s political future have also intensified as differences emerge within Linda Mwananchi. Reports have pointed to disagreements involving Sifuna and Babu Owino over political structures and the movement’s direction.
Ngunyi’s message therefore adds another layer to an already complicated political picture.
Whether his allegations gain traction or remain political commentary, one question now hangs over Sifuna’s journey: who ultimately controls the direction of his presidential ambition?
