A fresh political twist has emerged within the Linda Mwanaichi movement after Embakasi East MP Babu Owino made a statement that could spark new questions about the opposition campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.

Owino has declared that he will not attend every Linda Mwanaichi rally, despite remaining firmly committed to the movement and its presidential candidate, Edwin Sifuna. His remarks come only days after the highly watched Linda Mwanaichi rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi. Read Full Article Here

Speaking about his political plans, Owino made it clear that his support for Sifuna remains unchanged.

He said he would back Sifuna for the presidency, signaling that he sees the Nairobi senator as the person best placed to lead the movement into the 2027 contest.

However, Owino also revealed that his participation in Linda Mwanaichi events would not be constant.

“I will attend some Linda Mwananchi rallies but not all,” Owino stated, offering a glimpse into how he intends to balance his national political engagements with his ambitions in Nairobi.

The Embakasi East MP is openly seeking the Nairobi governorship and used the opportunity to make a direct appeal to residents of the capital.

“I humbly request Nairobians to support me as their next governor,” he said.

His declaration sets the stage for an increasingly competitive race for City Hall, while his continued backing of Sifuna could strengthen the movement’s campaign in Nairobi.

With 2027 drawing closer, Owino’s decision to selectively attend rallies could become an important part of the opposition’s evolving strategy, particularly as political leaders position themselves for both national and local contests.
