Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed pushed back against opposition unity efforts aimed at unseating President William Ruto, directing sharp criticism at former President Uhuru Kenyatta and his political allies.
Speaking during a political rally, the National Assembly Minority Leader addressed ongoing debates surrounding new opposition alliances formed to challenge the current administration.
He dismissed calls for the Orange Democratic Movement to align with groups linked to the former head of state, pointing to past electoral failures as the primary reason for his stance.
The lawmaker referenced the political setup dubbed “Linda Sponsor,” framing it as a project backed by the former president.
He argued that those who previously refused to support the late ODM leader Raila Odinga are now attempting to court his supporters for fresh political battles.
Highlighting the outcome of the 2022 presidential election, the Suna East legislator noted that despite holding executive power at the time, the former president was unable to deliver victory for their coalition.
Consequently, he insisted that joining forces with the same political figures offers no guarantee of success for future campaigns.
