UDA, ODM Joint Team Makes Progress on 2027 Manifesto Ahead of Elections
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have formed a joint committee to prepare a unified coalition manifesto ahead of the August 2027 General Elections. The upcoming document will outline the proposed political partnership’s core promises and plans for Kenyans if it wins the elections.
In an official update issued on Tuesday, October 27, UDA confirmed that the committee has made significant progress in drafting the joint document. UDA explained that the manifesto will be anchored on President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), prioritizing the improvement of economic conditions for ordinary citizens.
As part of its mandates, the committee is reviewing existing government policies, identifying areas where progress has stalled, and proposing measures to accelerate national development. UDA noted that the coalition aims to build on current government achievements while directly tackling outstanding socio-economic challenges.
The manifesto will also be guided by President Ruto’s governing philosophy of Usawa ni Sawa (equity for all). According to the party, this principle seeks to foster equal opportunities and ensure equitable development across all regions of Kenya.
This development fulfills an agreement struck by both parties in August 2026 to form a broad-based coalition and craft a shared framework for the 2027 polls. While President Ruto is expected to seek a second term under the joint banner, the alliance faces internal positioning over the deputy presidential slot.
ODM has indicated that it expects to be considered for the running mate position to reflect equal partnership. Meanwhile, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki maintains he will remain on the ticket, even as Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has expressed interest in the post. These competing ambitions are poised to shape upcoming coalition talks.
