Kalonzo Firmly Rejects Ruto’s Overtures, Cites Declining Popularity
NAIROBI, Kenya — Wiper Democratic Movement party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has firmly dismissed any possibility of joining President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza administration, asserting that public confidence in the Head of State has plummeted both locally and internationally.
Responding to President Ruto’s recent political overtures inviting key opposition leaders into the government fold, Kalonzo maintained that sentiments gathered from the ground reflect widespread public frustration with the current regime.
“I would have joined you, but your popularity has dropped immensely. I have been to Rome, London, and Bondo—and everywhere I go, people say they have rejected your administration,” Kalonzo remarked.
The former Vice President affirmed that the opposition coalition remains unified, steadfast, and committed to offering a viable alternative leadership structure ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He emphasized that entering into an alliance with a government widely criticized for mounting economic hardship and aggressive taxation policies would amount to a betrayal of the Kenyan electorate.
Kalonzo’s sharp stance comes as political realignments intensify, with both administration loyalists and opposition figures actively positioning themselves to secure leverage ahead of the next electoral cycle.
