Controversial preacher Pastor Victor Kanyari has stirred widespread debate across social media platforms following an emotional public appeal by his 14-year-old daughter, Sky Victor.
The teenager took to live streaming to express deep dissatisfaction over a recent court ruling that awarded biological custody of her and her younger brother, Danny, to Kanyari. The children had been living with their stepfather, Hiram Gitau (popularly known as Tash), following the death of their mother, gospel singer Betty Bayo, in November 2025.
Emotional Appeal to President Ruto
During her tearful live session, Sky appealed directly to President William Ruto and the legal authorities to intervene, stating that the court’s decision failed to consider the children’s best interests or emotional well-being.
“I am asking for your help because this is not fair. We went to court, and the ruling was so unfair that I am not comfortable with it,” Sky stated during the broadcast.
She further voiced serious distress regarding the prospect of moving in with her biological father, citing previous traumatizing experiences and raising concerns over how they would be treated in his household.
Kanyari’s Reaction During TikTok Live
The situation escalated when Kanyari was called live during a subsequent TikTok stream hosted by media content creators to address the issue. Instead of offering clear answers regarding his children’s reluctance to join him, the preacher remained evasive.
Refusing to discuss the custody ruling in detail on camera, Kanyari deflected questions, stating he wished to address matters privately “behind the tent” rather than engage in public disputes.
The raw exchanges have generated intense online debate regarding child welfare, custody battles involving public figures, and the psychological impact of public family disputes on minors. Clips of the emotional live sessions continue to circulate widely across digital channels.
