Democracy for Citizens Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has declared that the opposition alliance will sweep all elective positions in Nairobi County during the upcoming 2027 general election.

The former Deputy President asserted that the capital city is completely locked under the joint political influence of himself, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

Gachagua projected that the combined opposition leadership will command 2.5 million out of the estimated 2.7 million registered voters in Nairobi.

He dismissed the electoral prospects of the ruling administration, claiming that President William Ruto would struggle to secure even ten thousand votes in the capital without extensive divine intervention.

Furthermore, the DCP party leader confidently stated that neither the ruling United Democratic Alliance nor the Orange Democratic Movement will capture a single seat across the city’s electoral offices.

The bold claims highlight the escalating political contest over Nairobi, traditionally viewed as a crucial battleground and a springboard for national power.

By projecting a total lockdown of the capital, Gachagua seeks to signal complete opposition unity while directly challenging the governing coalition’s urban reach.

His declarations also reflect the continuing realignment within the broader opposition movement as key leaders attempt to consolidate voting blocs to block the ruling party’s territorial expansion.

However, political observers view these projections as ambitious, given Nairobi’s historically diverse and fluid voter demographics.

The assertion that major political parties like ODM and UDA could be entirely locked out of the city underscores the intense campaign rhetoric taking shape well ahead of the 2027 polls.

As opposition figures continue to push a unified front, the ruling coalition is expected to counter these assertions, setting up a high-stakes battle for control of the capital’s voter base.
