HARARE — Just hours after world media outlets confirmed the death of flamboyant Zimbabwean businessman Sir Wicknell Chivayo, a haunting final video showing the tycoon moments before his death has surfaced on social media.
The clip, which has rapidly gained traction across global digital platforms, captures Chivayo in high spirits, laughing and greeting onlookers alongside close associates.
Filmed adjacent to the ill-fated aircraft shortly before takeoff, the video shows the businessman exuding his signature confidence, sharing lighthearted moments with friends and crew members before boarding. Internet users have dubbed the footage his “final flight” record.
Tragedy struck shortly after the helicopter departed, when the aircraft suddenly went down in the Marondera Rural district, located east of the capital, Harare.
