They termed the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
The leaders instead allege that powerful political rivals are behind a Sh100 million scheme aimed at destabilising the county government and forcing the governor out of office.
Speaking at a press briefing in Kiambu Town on Wednesday, the governor’s supporters said there is no legitimate impeachment process underway in the County Assembly.
They accused unnamed individuals of spreading propaganda to create the impression that Wamatangi has lost political support both at the assembly and grassroots levels.
According to the allies, the alleged Sh100 million plot is meant to bankroll bribery of Members of the County Assembly (MCAs), sponsor negative media campaigns and incite public unrest to justify impeachment calls.
They claimed the funds were being mobilised by individuals threatened by the governor’s push for reforms and tighter controls on county finances.
The governor has refused to bow to extortion and corrupt networks that have for years benefitted from inflated tenders and dubious payments,” one ally said. What we are witnessing is retaliation by cartels that have been locked out of public resources.

The leaders further stated that Wamatangi enjoys the support of the majority of MCAs and remains focused on delivering development projects across the county.
They cited ongoing investments in health facilities, road upgrades, and water projects as evidence that the administration is on track.
They also warned against attempts to misuse impeachment as a political weapon, arguing that such actions would undermine devolution and disrupt service delivery to residents.
The allies urged investigative agencies to probe the alleged plot and take action against those seeking to destabilise the county for personal gain.
On his part, Governor Wamatangi has previously maintained that he is not distracted by political noise and remains committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.
He has called on leaders to focus on development rather than premature succession politics.
The unfolding claims add to rising political tensions in Kiambu, a county that has in the past witnessed dramatic leadership wrangles, with residents now watching closely to see how the situation develops.
