Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Jeremiah Kioni has issued a sharp wake-up call to the opposition, urging political leaders to abandon reliance on surface-level slogans and instead adopt a deliberate, long-term strategy to counter President William Ruto’s political machinery.
Speaking during a media engagement on opposition readiness, the former lawmaker cautioned that defeating the current administration will require deep strategic foresight rather than catchy political rhetoric.
Kioni warned that President Ruto is an exceptionally calculating politician who operates in a constant state of political strategy.
He emphasized that the President works on political calculations full-time, allowing him to carefully plan across multiple electoral cycles, analyzing scenarios for both a single term and a second term.
According to Kioni, the opposition must remain fully alert to this reality, recognizing that their opponent does not pause his political engine between elections.
The veteran politician cautioned against the opposition getting distracted or lulled into a false sense of security by popular political catchphrases.
He pointed out that while political slogans can temporarily energize supporters, they rarely substitute for structured grassroots mobilization, policy alternatives, and sustained voter engagement.
Kioni argued that relying solely on sloganizing reduces complex governance challenges to mere political theater, which ultimately plays to the advantage of an incumbent who is constantly refining his strategy.
