President William Ruto has urged Kenyans to make wise decisions at the ballot box, warning that the country’s future depends on electing capable and visionary leaders rather than what he termed as fools.

Speaking during a public address, the Head of State declared that leadership is too important to be entrusted to individuals lacking the competence and commitment needed to transform the country.

“I am warning you, for the sake of our country, do not vote for fools,” President Ruto said, drawing loud cheers from supporters who attended the event.

The remarks come as political activity continues to intensify across the country, with leaders positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Ruto’s statement is widely seen as a direct appeal to voters to carefully scrutinize those seeking public office and reject leaders driven by populism or personal interests.

The President emphasized that Kenya’s development agenda requires leaders capable of making difficult decisions, implementing policies, and delivering tangible results for citizens.

He argued that poor leadership has historically slowed the country’s progress and denied many Kenyans opportunities for economic growth.

Ruto defended his administration’s development record, citing investments in infrastructure, affordable housing, agriculture, healthcare, electricity connectivity, and job creation initiatives.

He maintained that the government remains focused on improving the lives of ordinary Kenyans despite political criticism from opponents.

According to the President, elections should not be based on empty promises, tribal politics, or emotional appeals but on the ability of candidates to deliver meaningful development.

He challenged voters to evaluate leaders based on their track records, integrity, and commitment to public service.

His comments are expected to generate political debate, particularly among opposition leaders who have consistently criticized his administration over the cost of living, taxation, governance and economic management.

Opposition figures have argued that many Kenyans continue to struggle despite government assurances that the economy is improving.

Political analysts believe Ruto’s latest remarks signal the beginning of a more aggressive political messaging strategy as the race toward 2027 gradually gathers momentum.

Leaders from both the Kenya Kwanza coalition and the opposition have increasingly intensified their engagements with wananchi through rallies and grassroots mobilization.

Supporters of the President welcomed the remarks, saying the country needs competent leadership to sustain ongoing development projects and economic reforms.

However, critics argued that political leaders should promote issue-based campaigns while avoiding language that could further heighten political tensions.

As campaigns and political realignments continue to take shape, President Ruto has maintained that Kenyans hold the ultimate responsibility of determining the country’s future through informed and responsible voting.

His latest warning underscores the growing significance of leadership choices as the nation gradually shifts its focus toward the next general election.
