DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa has announced that he has no intention of joining President William Ruto’s government.
Wamalwa, a seasoned politician and former Cabinet Secretary, emphasized that his party will maintain an independent position in the current political landscape.
Speaking during a press briefing Wamalwa said that DAP-K will continue to chart its own course, focusing on policies and initiatives that align with its principles rather than joining the ruling administration.
He cited the need to remain accountable to the party’s supporters as a key reason for rejecting offers to integrate with the government.
Wamalwa also highlighted that the party will focus on grassroots mobilization and strengthening its organizational structure across counties.
“We are committed to building a party that represents ordinary Kenyans and addresses their pressing concerns,” he added.

Despite the declaration, Wamalwa maintained a respectful tone towards the government, noting that DAP-K remains open to collaboration on specific national projects and policies where there is mutual benefit.
The statement comes amid speculation that some smaller parties could join the ruling coalition in the run up to the 2027 general elections.
