Kindiki's Embu Attack Raises Political temperatures
Share With Friends

What happened during a political meeting attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has now taken an even more dramatic turn, after Denis Itumbi issued a strong statement suggesting that the chaos may have been more than ordinary political rivalry. Read Full Article Here

Itumbi directly challenged Embu politician John Gitonga Mukunji, telling him that if he wants to lead Embu, he should present his development agenda and compete through ideas rather than disruption.

His biggest concern, however, was the alleged involvement of supporters in disrupting a UDA meeting attended by Kindiki, UDA Chair Cecily Mbarire and other leaders.

Itumbi argued that political competition is part of democracy, but claimed that sponsoring disruptions crosses the line into criminal conduct.

He was particularly angered by reports that a media correspondent’s vehicle was burnt during the incident.

Drawing from his own experience as a correspondent, Itumbi described the vehicle as more than just property. He said it represented years of sacrifice, work and a livelihood for the journalist.

He also appealed to Governor Cecily Mbarire to organize a fundraiser to help the affected journalist acquire another vehicle, promising to personally attend and contribute what he can.

Itumbi further expressed outrage over the alleged destruction of an ambulance, insisting that political disagreements should never result in ordinary Kenyans losing property they have struggled to build.

He ended with a call for security agencies to investigate the incident and hold anyone found responsible accountable, regardless of their political position.

The remarks have added fresh pressure around the Embu political scene, with questions now emerging over who may ultimately face scrutiny over the reported chaos.
