What began as a charged political moment appeared to shift when Babu Owino directly addressed Abby Zuena, a diehard supporter of Sifuna, urging her to avoid remarks that could create unnecessary tension during the gathering.
Babu, who was addressing supporters at the rally, told Abby that he had noticed her presence but appealed to her to remain calm and avoid stirring conflict.
“I have seen you Abby, but be a good person, we do not want incitement here,” Babu said, in remarks that immediately attracted attention.
The intervention came at a time when emotions were already running high, with supporters of different political figures using the Jacaranda gathering to demonstrate their loyalty and make their positions known.
Babu’s words were interpreted by some observers as a warning against allowing personal political differences to overshadow the wider opposition gathering.
His decision to publicly lecture one of Sifuna’s strongest supporters also sparked speculation about the relationship between the two camps.
The moment quickly became one of the talking points from the rally, particularly because Babu and Sifuna have both been prominent voices in the emerging opposition political contest ahead of the 2027 General Election.
While the exchange did not appear to derail the gathering, it highlighted the delicate political atmosphere surrounding the movement and the competing ambitions of leaders seeking influence.
As the opposition landscape continues to evolve, moments like this could offer a glimpse into the tensions that may shape alliances and rivalries in the months ahead.
