“Wananchi Wakisema Ni Ruto, Basi Ni Ruto” – Uhuru Kenyatta Shocks Country in Kitale Speech

KITALE, Kenya — Former President Uhuru Kenyatta delivered a bombshell address in Kitale on Sunday, declaring that the ultimate power to choose Kenya’s leadership rests entirely with the electorate.

His unexpected remarks sent shockwaves through the political landscape as he addressed persistent allegations of financing political factions against the current administration.

Speaking during the 23rd memorial service for the late Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa at his Milimani home, Kenyatta directly refuted claims that he is sponsoring figures like Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna or funding the united opposition to undermine President William Ruto.

Flanked by Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-Kenya’s Eugene Wamalwa, and other top opposition stalwarts, the retired head of state stated that voters will decide their own destination in the 2027 General Election.

“Mimi nimesema ya kwamba chaguo ni la nani? Chaguo ni la wananchi,” Kenyatta told an energized crowd. He dismissed accusations of being a political bankroller, humorously adding, “Jameni chungeni… Mimi sitaki kuitwa sponsor bana. Mimi sitaki mambo mingi.”

The former president emphasized that if Kenyans decide President William Ruto should continue leading the nation, that choice must be respected.

Likewise, if voters opt for alternative candidates like Kalonzo Musyoka or Edwin Sifuna, it remains their democratic right.

He labeled accusations targeting his post-presidency activities as absurd, insisting that no single politician can dictate the democratic will of millions.

The memorial event, which also included the launch of a biographical book documenting Kijana Wamalwa’s legacy, quickly transformed into a significant political turning point ahead of 2027.

Kenyatta’s candid, hands-off declaration serves as a dramatic response to his critics, reaffirming his stance that sovereignty belongs strictly to the citizens.
