Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has exposed alleged state intimidation tactics targeting opposition outfits, following the temporary abduction of a campaign driver and the confiscation of a People’s Renaissance Movement (PM) political truck.
Hon Caleb Amisi has been among leaders who showed dissatisfaction with President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance Government. He narrated what happened in Meru.
The incident, which unfolded across county lines, saw the driver intercepted and driven around in unmarked vehicles within Embu while the branded truck was impounded by authorities. According to Amisi, the driver was subjected to hours of secretive detention before being abruptly released at five in the morning.
The calculated delay effectively sabotaged scheduled publicity drives and grassroots mobilization events that the PM party had planned to hold across Tharaka Nithi.
The party had organized an extensive tour across key locations—including Chogoria, Marima, Ndagani, and Chuka—as part of its national expansion drive.
By holding the logistics team overnight, state operatives ensured that the sound and publicity vehicles were rendered useless for the scheduled weekend rallies.
Reacting strongly to the ordeal, Amisi condemned the deliberate interference and accused state agencies of employing covert tactics to stifle political competition.
He noted that using administrative machinery and rogue security personnel to block opposition activities exposes deep anxiety within the ruling political elite.
Despite the temporary setback in Tharaka Nithi, the lawmaker maintained that such high-handed methods would not halt the growing political momentum across the country.
Amisi emphasized that state-sponsored harassment of political opponents carries a strict expiration date, declaring that this systematic misuse of power will definitively come to an end in 2027.
He reaffirmed that the PM party will continue its nationwide grassroots invasion, taking its alternative agenda directly to voters regardless of state intimidation.
