Kalonzo Fires Back at Ruto Over Development Claims, Vows to End ‘Predator Regime’
Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka has forcefully rejected President William Ruto’s claims that the opposition chief is acting as a political billboard for the Kenya Kwanza administration’s development record.
The exchange erupted following President Ruto’s address during the commissioning of the Ksh1.47 billion Mwala Cluster Water Supply Project in Machakos County. Remarking on Kalonzo’s recent acknowledgment of government projects in Ukambani—including the road to Tseikuru—Ruto suggested a divine dynamic at play.
“I thank Kalonzo for saying God is using me,” Ruto stated. “God is using me to build roads, bring water, and improve healthcare. And God is using Kalonzo to help me publicise these achievements.”

Unamused by the President’s characterization, the former Vice President took to his official X account to set the record straight, framing his political role in far more confrontational terms.
“Mr. Ruto, God is indeed using me to take you home and to deliver this nation from your predator regime,” Kalonzo fired back, accusing the Head of State of resorting to propaganda and distraction while Kenyans suffer.
Addressing Ruto’s admission that Kalonzo stands as his primary political threat, the Wiper leader welcomed the rare show of candor. “The chief predator says I am his main competitor and that I am overworking to show him up.
That is the most honest he has been in four years,” Kalonzo noted, citing his recent un-sponsored travels across Machakos, Mombasa, London, Rome, and Bondo to build momentum.
Promising to push forward with his Ukombozi (liberation) movement, Kalonzo warned that the administration’s days are numbered, declaring: “Keep talking about me, Mr. Predator… It is a collective WANTAM!”
The sharp back-and-forth highlights escalating political tensions as both top leaders accelerate early strategy engagements ahead of the 2027 General Election.
