President William Ruto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting the growth of sports in Kenya after hosting AFC Leopards Football Club at State House, Nairobi, where he congratulated the team for an outstanding performance in the 2025/26 FKF Premier League season.
The President welcomed the players, technical bench and club officials, praising the former Kenyan champions for finishing second in the league, a remarkable achievement that has renewed optimism among the club’s loyal supporters.
Speaking during the meeting, President Ruto commended the players for their determination, discipline and consistency throughout the campaign, saying their performance demonstrated that Kenyan football continues to make significant strides.
He noted that AFC Leopards remains one of the country’s most celebrated football institutions, with a rich history of producing talented players and inspiring generations of football lovers across Kenya.
The Head of State said the Government remains committed to creating an enabling environment for sports by investing in modern infrastructure, supporting youth development and strengthening institutions that nurture talent.
President Ruto wished the club continued success as it prepares for future domestic and continental competitions, expressing confidence that the team has what it takes to achieve even greater milestones.

The meeting comes at a time when the Government is implementing major investments in sports infrastructure across the country, including the construction and renovation of stadiums expected to host international competitions while providing modern facilities for local clubs and athletes.
Football stakeholders have welcomed increased engagement between the Government and local clubs, arguing that stronger partnerships can improve the quality of the domestic league and attract greater investment into the sport.
AFC Leopards, popularly known as Ingwe, remains one of Kenya’s most successful and widely supported football clubs.
