President William Ruto and key Cabinet Secretaries have issued major fresh appointments across several State boards and agencies.
The widespread leadership restructuring was confirmed through Gazette notices published on September 4, 2026.
These updates span agriculture, energy, education, technology, water, and labor sectors.

In key leadership changes, President Ruto appointed Henry Gichuhi Kinyua to chair the Coffee Board of Kenya for three years, while Dr Geoffrey Mutai was retained to lead the Kenya Tsetse and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council. In parallel cabinet appointments, Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi named Prof Vasey Mwanja to head the NACOSTI board, Treasury CS John Mbadi re-appointed Michael Waititu Maina to the Nairobi International Financial Centre Authority, and Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi named Dr Francis Ndwiga Benson to the EPRA board.
The education and technology dockets saw significant changes as ICT CS William Kabogo appointed Richard K. Makenga to the ICT Authority board while renewing council terms for Evalyn Koiyan and Bevin Angellah Bhoke at KIMC. Within education, Dr Stella Keter and Stephen G. Chacha were retained at KEMI, alongside new council appointments for Ismael Ali Abdullahi and Abdirahman Noor Hassan at North Eastern National Polytechnic, and Wilson A. Mtai at Kisiwa National Polytechnic.
Enterprise and trade institutions also gained fresh leadership. Trade CS Lee Kinyanjui appointed Joyce M. Njogu to KIRDI, while MSME CS Wycliffe Oparanya unveiled eight new board members for the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority, including Tobias Ouma Alando, James Kaburu, and Wesley Kipkirui Siele.

The restructuring extends to water, security, and labour agencies. WASREB retained Irene Chebichii Cheruiyot and Peter Nunda Mutisya, while Fozia Ali Ibrahim joined the Water Resources Authority as Hassan Ahamednur Baricha transitioned to the Kenya Water Institute. Capt. (Rtd) Augustine Ekitela joins KVDA, Damaris Wanjiru Njoroge takes over as secretary for the KDF Pensions Assessment Committee, and Labour CS Alfred Mutua re-appointed six National Labour Board members, including Francis Atwoli and Jacqueline Mugo.
