The announcement, made through his official communication channels, has sparked renewed interest in the evolving role of military diplomacy in the East African region.

While no specific dates or itinerary were disclosed, General Muhoozi said the visit would focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation and regional stability.

Kenya and Uganda share deep historical, economic and security links, with cooperation spanning trade, infrastructure development, counter terrorism efforts and regional peacekeeping initiatives.

Analysts say the planned visit underscores the importance both nations place on maintaining close coordination amid shifting geopolitical and security dynamics in the Great Lakes and Horn of Africa regions.

General Muhoozi, who serves as Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, has in recent years emerged as a prominent and sometimes controversial figure in regional affairs, often using public platforms to comment on diplomacy and security matters.

His engagement with Kenyan leaders and institutions is expected to centre on defence collaboration, intelligence sharing and joint responses to emerging threats such as terrorism, cross-border crime and instability in neighbouring states.

Kenya has previously worked closely with Uganda on regional security frameworks under the East African Community (EAC) and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Observers note that high level military interactions play a critical role in sustaining trust between the two countries, particularly as the region grapples with conflicts in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan.

The planned visit also comes at a time when East African nations are pushing for deeper integration, including closer coordination on infrastructure projects, trade corridors and energy development.

Military and security cooperation is viewed as a key pillar supporting these broader economic ambitions.

Although the visit is expected to be largely symbolic, experts say it sends a clear message about Uganda’s commitment to maintaining warm relations with Nairobi.

Kenyan officials are yet to formally comment on the announcement, but diplomatic sources indicate preparations will be made once official communication channels are activated.
