But Hon Sifuna has received a stern warning as he has been told about what will happen to him should he happen to be running mate of President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto in 2027.
Former Cabinet Minister Dr. Mukhisa Kituyi has issued a sharp critique of President William Ruto’s political standing, dismissing the possibility of the Head of State securing a legitimate mandate for a second term in office.
Kituyi’s commentary comes as he throws his weight behind Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, framing the young opposition leader as a dominant force in the country’s political arena.
According to Kituyi, Sifuna’s current surge in popularity highlights a deep-seated public appetite for change.
The veteran politician argued that even a strategic alliance between the ruling coalition and Sifuna would fail to salvage the incumbent administration’s political prospects.
Kituyi posited that if Sifuna were to join the administration as a running mate, the move would only result in a joint political defeat rather than a rescue mission for the president.
Kituyi emphasized that securing democratic renewal through a fair vote remains the only viable path for governance in Kenya. He warned that any attempt by the political establishment to retain power outside a clear electoral mandate represents a dangerous direction with unmanageable national consequences.
