President William Ruto has intensified his political offensive against Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, daring the opposition leadership to step up its game and present a credible national agenda.
Addressing public gatherings during his regional tours, the Head of State dismissed ongoing anti-government campaigns, declaring that persistent calls for his departure do not shake his resolve or derail his administration’s development plans.
Ruto directly challenged Sifuna and his allies to move past political rhetoric, arguing that popular movement slogans such as “wantam” and “Ruto must go” lack substance and offer no practical solutions to the country’s economic challenges.
The President portrayed the opposition’s strategy as empty, asserting that relying on slogans rather than policy alternatives demonstrates a lack of preparedness to govern.
He noted that mere political hostility cannot replace a constructive vision for economic empowerment, infrastructure development, and institutional reform.
In a sharp swipe at the opposition’s organization, Ruto claimed his rivals are operating without a coherent framework because they rely on external political backing.
He argued that critics focusing solely on unseating the government are ignoring key national priorities, such as the construction of modern markets for small-scale traders and the expansion of affordable housing.
According to the President, voters will ultimately evaluate leaders based on tangible delivery rather than political posturing.
The escalated rhetoric comes as Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi movement continues to gain traction through nationwide rallies, attempting to build a broad anti-incumbent coalition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
