Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a scathing indictment against President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance Government.
The former second in command has finally broken his silence on why he broke out with President Ruto. While saying that he will protect the youths, Hon Gachagua revealed what made him fall out president Ruto.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has issued a scathing indictment against President William Ruto’s administration, citing state-sponsored abductions, extrajudicial killings, and the systematic suppression of Kenyan youth as the ultimate cause of his irrevocable fallout with the head of state.
Speaking on the political divide that has reshaped Kenya’s leadership landscape, Gachagua declared that his conscience could no longer tolerate the regime’s heavy-handed tactics targeting the country’s younger generation.
He noted that his disagreement with President Ruto intensified during the widespread youth-led anti-government protests, during which dozens of young activists were violently detained, abducted by state security apparatuses, or lost their lives while demanding accountability and economic justice.
According to Gachagua, his opposition to using state violence and intimidation against Gen-Z protesters was repeatedly ignored within the inner circles of government.
He revealed that he confronted the President directly, warning against using security agencies to abduct and silence young citizens who were merely exercising their constitutional right to dissent.
The failure of the administration to halt these enforced disappearances marked the point of no return in their political partnership, ultimately leading to his high-profile fallout and impeachment from office.
Positioning himself as a staunch defender of the youth, Gachagua pledged to stand firm against state oppression and shield young Kenyans from further harm. He condemned the continued usage of security officers to execute arbitrary arrests and police brutality, calling it an assault on the nation’s future.
Emphasizing his new political role, he vowed to advocate for full accountability for every young person who was abducted, injured, or killed during the crackdowns, insisting that no nation can build its future by turning its security machinery against its own children.
