Former Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has publicly vowed to shield fellow politician Ndindi Nyoro from what he describes as a coordinated campaign of destruction.

The remarks, delivered with characteristic fire, mark a clear U-turn and land as an unexpected setback for President William Ruto’s allies. Read Full Article Here

Kuria accused Senator Samson Cherargei of once seeking, or still seeking, to scrap presidential term limits. He went further, claiming Cherargei now forms part of a well-oiled cabal intent on bringing down Nyoro. “I will not allow this to happen.

Over my dead body,” Kuria declared, adding that certain regions appear determined to raise their own political interests above national unity.

The statements, widely circulated through media channels on 11 September, have ignited debate about shifting loyalties within the ruling side.

Nyoro, a vocal figure known for his independent streak, has often clashed with more establishment voices. Kuria’s sudden decision to stand as his defender suggests deeper fractures may be opening among those once seen as firmly aligned with the presidency.

Observers note that Kuria’s intervention comes at a sensitive moment, when questions of succession, regional balance and constitutional reform continue to simmer beneath the surface.

By framing the alleged plot against Nyoro as an assault that must be resisted at all costs, Kuria has forced the conversation into the open and placed pressure on those around President Ruto to clarify their positions.

Whether this defence holds or dissolves into further political theatre remains to be seen.

What is already clear is that Kuria’s dramatic pledge has disrupted the expected script and handed critics of the current order fresh material with which to challenge the cohesion of the president’s camp.
