Miguna did not mince his words while reacting to Babu’s conduct. He argued that those expecting Babu to behave like a conventional political leader were setting their expectations too high.
“You are expecting too much from a criminal thug and murderer, Babu Patel,” Miguna said, before declaring that Babu was not a leader and was, in his view, completely ungovernable.
His remarks came after Babu was seen addressing Abbie Zuena during the rally, with Sifuna watching the exchange.
Babu appeared to caution Zuena against conduct he considered inappropriate at the political gathering, creating a tense moment that quickly attracted public attention.
Miguna went further, drawing an explosive comparison between Babu and three of Kenya’s most prominent political figures: President William Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.
According to Miguna, Babu is “1,000,000 worse” than the three politicians, despite his well-known criticism of them.
The remarks have added another layer to the growing debate over Babu’s political style and his ambitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
While his supporters view his outspoken approach as evidence of courage and independence, critics continue to question whether such confrontational moments could hurt his political standing.
With the opposition camp already facing intense political competition, Miguna’s latest attack is likely to keep Babu at the centre of public debate.
Amollo revealed that ODM leaders and other Nyanza leaders had hosted President Ruto for a consultative meeting at the Kisumu Shipyard.
His brief description of the encounter has already triggered questions about what could be developing behind the scenes.
“As the ODM Party; as Nyanza Leaders; we hosted a consultative meeting with President William Ruto at the Kisumu Shipyard,” Amollo stated.
The meeting comes against the backdrop of President Ruto’s increasing political activities in the region, where he has been seeking to strengthen his relationship with local leaders and communities ahead of the next general election.
For years, Luo Nyanza has been regarded as a stronghold of the opposition, making any visible engagement between its leaders and the President politically significant.
The presence of ODM leaders at the meeting has therefore fueled speculation over whether a new political chapter could be taking shape.
Amollo’s statement, however, stopped short of revealing the specific issues discussed or whether the engagement could translate into a formal political arrangement.
