Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi, Kakamega Governor Fernandes Barasa, Senate Speaker Moses Wetang’ula and Deputy President Ayub Savula have mounted a strong defence of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission dismissing claims that the institution is preparing to manipulate the next election.
The leaders have argued that criticism directed at the IEBC risks turning the electoral body into a convenient scapegoat whenever political disagreements emerge.
According to them, the commission should be allowed to carry out its constitutional responsibilities without unnecessary political pressure.
Their intervention comes at a time when political temperatures are steadily rising, with various opposition figures questioning the credibility and preparedness of institutions expected to oversee the 2027 contest.
The Kenya Kwanza leaders, however, insist that Kenyans should focus on strengthening confidence in the electoral process rather than creating suspicion around the IEBC.
At the same time, the leaders have continued to rally support for President William Ruto and his bid for another term, linking their political message to the need for stability and continuity.
