Speaking to residents of Suna East Constituency during the burial of Elvis Ombok, the younger brother of his CDF Chair Alphonce Ombok, Junet made it clear that ODM is not planning to walk away from the broad-based government.
Junet accused what he described as perennial exclusionists, led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, of attempting to push his political camp out of the government. He insisted that those efforts would not succeed.
His strongest message, however, was directed toward the future.
According to Junet, ODM will remain within the ruling coalition until the end of the current administration and will work with its coalition partners to form the next government.
His declaration immediately raises questions about the potential political arithmetic of 2027 and whether the partnership could give President William Ruto a significant advantage.
The statement comes at a crucial moment when politicians across the country are positioning themselves ahead of the next presidential contest.
If ODM maintains its partnership with Ruto and the alliance remains intact, the political landscape could look dramatically different from previous election cycles.
