President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza Alliance Government has been on the spotlight for years over abductions and killings of innocent Kenyans.

In as much as the president has previously tried as much as he can to defend his government, the abductions and killings by allegedly police officers under his watch continues to rise in the country.

Senator Dan Maanzo has intensified his criticism of President William Ruto over allegations of abductions in Kenya, calling on citizens to demand accountability for people who are allegedly taken away unlawfully. Maanzo argued that Kenyans should take a more active role in monitoring and exposing individuals responsible for abductions, describing the issue as a serious threat to human rights and the rule of law.

The senator claimed that President Ruto has, directly and indirectly, acknowledged cases involving abductions and alleged that some victims have received compensation. Maanzo used the claims to question the government’s commitment to protecting citizens and upholding constitutional freedoms.

In his assessment, Maanzo went further to accuse the President of bearing ultimate responsibility for the alleged abductions and urged Kenyans to reject his leadership at the ballot box. The remarks are likely to deepen the political debate surrounding alleged enforced disappearances and the conduct of security agencies under the current administration.

Reports of alleged abductions have previously generated public concern, with human rights organizations, families, and political leaders calling for investigations and accountability. Government officials have, however, disputed various allegations and maintained that security agencies operate within the law.

Maanzo’s latest remarks come as political parties and leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election. The senator’s comments are expected to add pressure on the government to address concerns surrounding alleged abductions, establish responsibility where wrongdoing occurred, and provide justice to affected families.

The debate is likely to remain a major political issue as opposition leaders seek to make human rights, accountability, and constitutional governance central themes in the next electoral contest.
