Video: Oparanya Makes a U-Turn, Declares the Only Way He Will Leave ODM
Former Kakamega County Governor and Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has sparked wide reactions across the political spectrum following explosive remarks delivered during an empowerment forum in Kakamega County.
Addressing residents during the event, Oparanya issued a firm declaration regarding his future with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
His bold statements come on the heels of mounting political friction within the party, following a chaotic incident in Homa Bay County where ODM leaders—including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna—were reportedly confronted by goons allegedly mobilized by local political factions.
Reaffirming his deep roots within the party structure, Oparanya made it clear that he will not be forced out easily.

He emphasized his status as a founding member who sacrificed immense personal resources, time, and strategic backing to build and popularize the party across the Western region and nationally.
Dismissing rumors that he might quietly walk away or form a new political outfit without resistance, Oparanya declared that if there ever comes a time for him to leave ODM, he will demand his full share of the party’s assets and resources first.
He insisted that having heavily invested in laying the foundation of the party, he has no intention of walking away empty-handed.
Oparanya’s defiance signals growing internal friction and a firm assertion of ownership by veteran leaders within ODM. His remarks have stirred intense debate on the party’s future direction, key shareholdings, and the rising political tension ahead of upcoming electoral alignments.
